Antioch Jiu-Jitsu is proudly affiliated with the Charles Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Association, led by Master Charles Gracie, an 8th-degree coral belt and the grandson of Grand Master Carlos Gracie Sr., the founder and creator of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. In the early 1900s, the Gracie family refined traditional Japanese Jiu-Jitsu into a highly effective system focused on leverage, technique, and strategy. This approach allows a smaller person to successfully defend themselves against larger and stronger opponents. Through challenge matches, real-world self-defense, and competition, the Gracie family proved the effectiveness of their system and helped spread Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu throughout the world. The art gained worldwide recognition through the creation of the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 1993, when Royce Gracie demonstrated the power of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by defeating much larger opponents using technique and leverage.
Professor Jayson Guevara and Professor Alfredo Varona bring over 17 years of training experience under 4th Degree Black Belt Clint Gerona of Charles Gracie Daly City, Ca.
